Kahler, James M. DDS

James M. Kahler DDS, 59, Athens died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jim is best described by his goddaughter Meghan. Heaven gained a remarkable man. He is the perfect example of what it means to be hard working, beyond generous, caring and compassionate. He ALWAYS, ALWAYS, AlWAYS lived each day to the fullest, doing things he loved and with the people he loved. He had jolly Irish cheeks and eyes that always sparkled! He is in heaven right now sitting in a fishing boat with all his pups enjoying a nice cold beer. Thank you to all his friends and family who added him to their prayers. Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him O Lord, And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him.

Survivors include his wife Donna (Petre) Kahler, Athens, his mothers, Rosemary Kahler and Hild O. Petre, his son, Tony Kass, Madison, his golden retriever, Kajsa, his brothers, Bill (Barb) Kahler and Rick (Karilyn) Petre, his sisters, Debra (Sam) Hesseling, Michelle (Dave) Schroeder, Kim (Robert) Philips, Karolyn Kahler, Cindy Petre, Kari Petre (David Lyshek) and Britt (Kyle) Kloehn and many well loved nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents George Kahler and Gilbert Petre, Robert and Diane Petre and his pets Bonnie and Remi.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Vicar Tammy Barthels will officiate. Jim was my best friend in dental school and although the miles separated us after graduation, I know we were friends for life. It was great to see Jim in June. I wish it had been under different circumstances. What I witnessed at our meeting was a celebration of his life. It was a legacy of love, family and friends. Well done, Jim, well done.

Dr Kahler was a wonderful dentist and a kind person. He never judged the poor shape of my teeth when I came in to get help. He just figured out a plan to take care of everything, even though it turned out to be a 5 year plan! Over the years I enjoyed listening to his hunting and travel stories. I agree with his goddaughter, he's in heaven now with all those dogs he loved so much.
