James McKinnon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2025.
James Mark McKinnon passed away on March 16, 2025, in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. Born on October 12, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana, James lived a life filled with simple joys and deep connections with those around him. James took great pride in his independence while residing in a group home setting in Slatington, PA. His family-oriented caretakers and roommates provided the love and support that he needed. He found joy in welcoming visitors and showing off his space. James passed away knowing he was loved and cherished by many. James had a variety of interests that brought him happiness. He enjoyed amusement park rides, always eager for the thrill and excitement they provided. His love for animals-especially cats-was evident to all who knew him. Country music was a constant companion in his life, as were classic television shows on MeTV that offered comfort and nostalgia. James also had a fondness for pumpkin spice coffee and spicy foods. Above all, he treasured catching up with family, valuing the time spent with loved ones.

James is survived by his brother, John McKinnon (Kathy); sisters, Jennifer McMahon (John) and Jessica Bates (Dave); and his beloved nieces and nephews: Johnny McMahon (Katelyn), Shannon McKinnon, Colin McKinnon, Lily Bates, Lauren McKinnon, Kyle Bates, Sean McKinnon, and Justin McMahon (affectionately known as his Lil' Peanut). James was predeceased by his parents, John F. McKinnon and Juliette A. Roy. James's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his spirit continue to bring warmth and comfort to those he loved

Services officiated by Rev. Fr. Joseph J. Kweder will be on Thursday March 27, 2025 in the Gilbert Funeral Home 444 Pershing Blvd. Whitehall, PA 18052, where his family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery Whitehall.

I loved hearing your sweet voice on the messages you would leave Jennifer whenever I would stay with them. You would always announce yourself even though your sweet voice was so recognizable. You are loved and missed beyond what words can possibly express.

James was the most loving, thoughtful and caring nephew. He cared for everyone and everyone loved him. He was the shining star of Grammy and Dada McKinnon. They loved and cherished him from the day that he was born. I will miss his interesting phone calls and messages that he sent to me. He and his Mom will now be together and both will be extremely happy. He will always be in my heart and prayers.
Love, Aunt Pat

James ,
I don´t know where to start. I still can´t seem to wrap my head around you leaving us. We were so blessed to have you with us for the years we did. I´m so thankful I can look back and remember all the great times we had. From summer picnics at the lake, boat rides ( in which you kept telling Justin to go faster, lol) our trips to the zoo and knoebels and of course going out for coffee and just hanging out with my guys! I´m going to miss you so much. Thank you for coming into our lives when we needed you and blessing us with your unwavering friendship and love . You will always be close to my heart and never forgotten. This isn´t goodbye, it´s see you later.
Love you, Gina (AKA momma bear )
