James W. "Jimmy" Richardson, Sr.
92, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wed., Feb. 15, 2012. He was born on Nov. 18, 1919 to William W. and Fannie E. (Bright) Richardson. Jimmy served as a ship's cook in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served on the USS Tomahawk (AO-88) which provided fuel to vessels in the Pacific Ocean and received 6 Battle Stars during the war. Jimmy worked for Indianapolis Union Railway/Conrail as a Locomotive Engineer for 40 years. He was a member of Indiana Pest Control Association/Purdue University, Westside Church of the Nazarene, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Indiana State Police Alliance and Indiana Sheriff's Association. Jimmy was also a member of the VFW Post 2839, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis (32nd Degree) and Speedway Masonic Lodge F & A.M. 729. For 17 years, Jimmy served as the Principal Doorkeeper for the Indiana House of Representatives. He is survived by his sons, James Richardson, Jr. and Paul Richardson; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. (Stevens) Richardson. Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park on Sun., Feb. 19, 2012 at 3pm, with visitation from 1pm until 3pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at http://www.flannerbuchanan.com.
