James Schultz Obituary
A graduate of Columbus East High School, Jim went on to build a distinguished career as a Master Carpenter. He specialized in cabinetry and finishing work, where his precision and creativity were evident in every project he undertook. More than just a skilled tradesman, Jim was a natural design engineer whose ingenuity left a lasting mark-most notably through the rainwater collection and irrigation system he designed for the University in Florida. This project stood as a testament to his ability to blend functionality with sustainability.
Jim's love for the outdoors was central to who he was. Whether camping under the stars, kayaking along winding rivers, or casting a line into quiet waters, he found peace and joy in nature. He also enjoyed spirited games of corn hole and never shied away from friendly competition. A man of strong convictions and intellectual curiosity, Jim relished political debates and was known for his dedication to researching and uncovering the truth across a wide range of topics.
He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Tonette Lonaker of Columbus, Indiana, and Candy Finney of Lady Lake, Florida; his brother Henry Schultz of Columbus, Indiana; and his significant other Billie Legg of Altuna, Florida.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Loretta Schultz of Elizabethtown, Indiana; and his brother Kenneth Schultz of Columbus, Indiana.
Jim's legacy lives on through the craftsmanship he left behind and the memories shared by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, 2025, from 04:00 PM to 07:30 PM at Nexus Park 2252 25th Street. Entrance 2
