James Sloane Obituary

WELLS - James W. Sloane, 81, died May 8, 2017, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of James V. and Rita Sloane.
After graduating from Bailey Ellard High School in Madison, New Jersey, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in November 1954.
Following military service, Mr. Sloane joined the Morristown Police Department.
He married Sarena E. Mischiara in Morristown, Feb. 8, 1958.
He was employed in road construction and later, owned and operated asphalt plants, a stone quarry and a sand pit.
Survivors include three children, Pamela Sloane-Woodgate, Tara Crane and James Sloane Jr., all of New Jersey; three brothers, Ronald, of St. Petersburg, Florida, William, of Lebanon, New Jersey, and John, of Denville, New Jersey; a grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sloane was predeceased by his wife in 1984 and a daughter, Deirdre Sloane, in 1994.
The memorial services will be held May 19 at Church of the Assumption in Morristown.
A celebration of his life in Vermont will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to a veterans' charity or any charity of one's choice.

Jim you were our neighbor for a very long time in Wells, VT, we watched out for each other, helping when and where we could. Jim you will always be in our hearts and memories. it was a pleasure having known you and for you being a part of our lives. May you Rest In Peace, you will be missed
