James "Jim" Stevens, Sr. 82, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House on Monday Sept. 15, 2014. He was the born in Charleston WV on Dec.26, 1931, the son of the late E.K. Stevens and Virginia C. Stevens. He was also preceded in death by one brother John Allen Stevens.





Jim graduated from Charleston High, class of 1950. He served with the US Army and graduated from West Virginia University.





Jim spent 45 years in the Aluminum Industry. His career took him and his family to Pt. Pleasant WV, Pittsburgh PA, twice to Fairmont WV, Oswego NY, Hasting MI, Chicago IL, and Clarksburg WV. He and Joyce retired in Charleston.





He is survived by his wife Joyce Patterson Stevens, sons James S. Stevens, Jr. of Kenna, M. David and Amanda Stevens of Fort Mill, SC and daughter Ginny Stevens of Charleston, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother, Robert K. Stevens and wife Sandy of Cary, NC, dear sister in law, Jeanne Wood of Charleston, and brother in law, Roy Patterson of Charleston, and several nieces and nephews.





Jim's utmost joy in life was his family. He was fun loving and generous to a fault. He was a friend to all that knew him and too many that did not. He was an unsung hero.





Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. West, with Deacon John Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Charleston.





Visitation will be 11AM to 1PM prior to the services at the funeral home.





In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to your local Alzheimer's Association 1601 2nd Avenue Charleston, WV 25387 or Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.
