I am l late to this memorial as I had not heard from Jim in a while and he did not responded to texts or calls. I regret that a search of Houston obituaries confirmed my fears a year after his passing. I first met Jim when we were both CAP cadets in the late 60's back on Long Island. Even back then he strove for Excellence, attaining a rare rank of Cadet Colonel, getting his pilots license, and qualifying to fly CAP aircraft. He soon had his Instructors ticket and began his own flight school business with his own Cessna 150, and building hours towards an Airlne career. He was also my flight instructor and got my ticket in his 182. We both ended up in Airline jobs, He was flying, I was in Management. Let me say that he was a dedicated professional and taught me a level of precise flying no other instructor demonstrated. He ended up in Houston, me in Tulsa, but we kept in touch, and even gave my Grandson a tour of the B-17. Thank you Jim for your knowlege and friendship.

Jim was a friend and integral part of the Hooks airport lunch bunch at the Table of Knowledge. We are diminished by his loss but he will be remembered by all he shared a laugh and his knowledge with.
Blue skies and tailwinds Jim.

My sincere condolences to Jim's family as they deal with this horrific and trajic accident that claimed Jim's life. Have known Jim since we began our commercial pilot careers in June 1977. He was a great guy, a close friend and a very gifted pilot. If it had wings Jim could and did fly it. He was a pilot's pilot. May all of your great memories of and with Jim sustain you during this very difficult time. RIP my friend as you make your final flight...

Jim was my pilot on my first flight on Lone Star´s B-17 when I was training to be crew chief. He was such a kind and down to earth person! He will be missed and I send my condolences to his family.

What a joy it was for my 16 year old, Braden, to finally meet one of my heroes when he took us flying around Fort Worth on December 19, 2015.
In fact, I myself was 16 when I first met Jim back in 1980. I sold him a Pierre Cardin suit at Kuppenheimer's on FM1960. Soon after we became friends. Not many years later Jim taught me to fly (saving my hide a few times in the process). Jim made me a good pilot, a better driver, a better student, and certainly a better person.

Jim was my neighbor for nearly 39 years (until I moved away). He was thoughtful & helpful. Always will remember the animal lover he was: helped any stray or neighborhood cat he came across, catching & relocating possums, housing a family of skunks in his garage when it was cold & bring over treats when he came to visit my dogs. My sympathies to his family. He will be missed!

Most of our life is spent making new friends, and meeting new associates we enjoy working with. As for Jim and I as well as most of our closest friends the opportunity to fly new/old planes.
Now I seem to be losing far too many of those friends and opportunities to fly new/ old planes fading.
I miss you my buddy, blue skies and thank you for being my friend.
