James Tatom Obituary
Jimmy was born December 9, 1925 in Stamps, AR to Floyd and Edith Tatom. He graduated from Arkansas High School and Louisiana Technical School. He served his country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action in Iwo Jima. He was there when the flag was raised on Mount Suribachi.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Tatom of Texarkana, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Linda Tatom of Austin, TX and Steve and Theresa Pound of Justin, TX; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joy Law of Texarkana, TX, Marsha and Tom Akery of Stockton, CA and Shirley and Bill Temer of Albuquerque, NM; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Evelyn Tatom of Arlington, TX; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jewel Evers of Texarkana, TX; 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in the chapel at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with Rev. B.J. Smith and Dr. James White officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the funeral home.
