Jamil "Jim" Farhat Sr.

Jamil (Jim) Farhat, Sr. passed away at the age of 79 on October 16, 2010. He was born on January 11, 1931, to Marshood and Sarah Farhat in Corpus, Christi, Texas. Jim was a long-time resident of Lodi and a graduate of Lodi High School. He was a proud 14-year veteran of the Marine Corp, during which time he fought in the Korean War. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal w/2 stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was also acknowledged as an Expert Rifleman. Jim was a skilled craftsman whose expertise in all areas of construction was recognized and appreciated by all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, model airplanes, working around his home and spending time with this family. Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara; his children, Susan, Alvin, Tammy, Patricia and Marvyn; his sister, Rasheeda (Elmer) Clawson; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent, and five siblings. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, at Lodi Funeral Home on 725 S. Fairmont Avenue. Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lodi Unit, 207 E.
