Jane Giaco Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 11 to Mar. 14, 2021.
Jane Ann Giaco, 65, of Orlando, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 5, 2021. Born in Evanston, IL on February 22, 1956, Jane spent her early years in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, before moving to Albuquerque as a teenager where she fell in love with the rugged majestic landscape and rich native history and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1974. In the summer of 1976, she left Chicago on a road trip to South Florida with her sister Janet and best friend Andrea and never returned! She settled in North Miami Beach, became Mom when Matthew was born in 1980, and quickly became Aunt Jane - a role she cherished for life - thanks to the rapid arrivals of Aaron, Joey, and Shawn in 1981, followed by David in 1985 and Kurt in 1991. She spent most of her life in the medical field, first as a talented medical assistant in Miami Shores - where she was known as Dr. Jane - and later as a skilled coder for Florida Hospital after moving to Orlando in 1997. A devoted mother to Matthew, Aunt Jane, as she was known to most, absolutely loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling to places where she could escape heat and hurricanes, especially her favorite scenic mountain retreats in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, and New Mexico - The Land of Enchantment - which was especially close to her heart. She is survived by her son, Matt Giaco (John) of Phoenix, AZ, her partner of 31 years, Danny Yost and sister Janet Vazquez of Orlando, her nephews and extended family: Joey, Shawn, Orlando, David, Kurt (Schedly), Seniah, Zeke, and many others who she loved dearly and who will miss their Aunt Jane. She was predeceased by her parents Waldo and Charlotte (Harrison) Wiest, first husband Dominick Giaco, and beloved canines Clay, Whitey, and Jeffi. A celebration of life will be held outside at Leu Gardens in Orlando, on Friday, March 19 from 3-5pm. Comfortable dress encouraged.
