Jane Jensen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2008.
Jane G. Jensen
Jane Gunderson Jensen, age 63, born in Richland, Washington May 28, 1945 to Roy and Constance (Collier) Gunderson returned to her Heavenly Father on July 11, 2008 following a difficult battle with cancer.
She was married to her life-long best friend, James B. Jensen by President Harold B. Lee in the Salt Lake Temple February 26, 1965. She worked hard supporting her husband as he completed his education in Utah, Colorado, Alabama and New York City. When she could, she accompanied him on medical research activities to Denmark, Scotland, England, France, Greece, Israel, Chile, Peru and Bolivia. She lived with her husband and children in Logan, Utah, Auburn, Alabama, New York City, and East Lansing, Michigan and for 19 years in Provo, Utah.
She showed her great love for her Savior by spending her life daily in the service of others. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, bearing a living testimony of the Restored Gospel by serving as Relief Society President (2X), Counselor in Stake R.S. Presidency, as Primary President (3X), Young Woman's President (2X) and in many other teaching and support positions. But, her greatest talent was teaching young children. She worked tirelessly for many years in special education at Provost School in Provo, Utah, helping many children reach educational goals they otherwise would not have achieved. Over the years, her daily walks through her neighborhood rang with "Hi, Mrs. Jensen" from nearly every child who saw her. She was greatly beloved by all who knew her.
She enjoyed outdoors Ð hiking, camping, and snowshoeing. She was an avid reader, loved music, art and everything beautiful. She maintained a wonderful garden and her home was always spotlessly clean and meals, wonderfully prepared, fed not only her family, but also nearly every needy person she could discover.
She is survived by her husband, James and her children Christian (Becky), Levi (Betsy), Leah (Benjamin) and Joshua (Nichole) of Provo, and Stephanie (Bruce), Davidson (Angela), of Denver, CO., and her sisters Pat Foushee, of Portland, OR; and Susie Chiles, of Omak, WA, as well as 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonneville 13th Ward Chapel, 1500 East 800 South, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, on Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. or at the Ward Chapel on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Our family lived right across from the Gundersons when the girls were very little and we spent lots of time with them. My mother, Lois Williams, was a good friend of Connie. If I remember correctly, Jane was the same age as my brother, Terrell, and they loved playing together.

I have not seen Jane for many years and so enjoyed the pictures displayed. She truly was a beautiful woman, inside and out. It has been wonderful reading each of these entries and know all of you in her family will miss her dearly. I thank Susie for letting me know about Jane.
My sympathy and prayers,

I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, condolences, and prayers. Your kind words regarding my mother have brought me much joy and comfort. In fact, I feel blessed to have been taught by her, to have known her, and to call her “Mother”.

Thank you Mother—I miss you.

To the Jensen and Gunderson Family,
You have lost a most beautiful, gracious, and loving woman. I knew Jane and Pat from junior high school days in Richland. Their home, made inviting by their incredible mother, was filled on the weekends with laughing, fun-filled teenagers. It was the "place" to be. I cannot imagine how much you will miss your beautiful Jane. She was truly someone who was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. I am sorry that I did not see her much after graduation, however when I did see her she was as lovely and as happy as she always had been. I will always remember her and cherish those memories. May God be with you all.

Uncle Jim and cousins:
Words can't express my sadness over the loss of Aunt Jane. Although we did not see each other much through the years, I was always so excited, no matter my age, to see her. The memories of my sweet, giving, and loving Aunt Jane will last forever. I think my youngest daughter may have only been about three when she met Aunt Jane, but she is now ten and still remembers like it was yesterday--Aunt Jane left an impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to have her in their lives. My heart goes out to all of you...

With Love and Sympathy,
Debi (Chiles), Pat, Marcy, and Rhaney Harris

Susie, this is especially for you, and in memory of Janey. My name is Ronnie Jeanne Powell Bingham. Your mother and you little girls (I was a little girl, too) used to come to our home for dinner once in a while. I loved you girls, and I'm sad to hear of your loss. Carol was always called Susie, too, and we thought that was so fun. Our dad's name was Dean Powell, and I'm pretty sure he knew your mom from her work. He was a bus driver for the gov't areas. I have lived here in Utah since 1967, and I was surprised to see that Janey had been living here such a long time. too. I can't imagine losing one of my sisters--just know that we are thinking of you. I would love to hear from you sometime.

Jane married my cousin Jim. I had the opportunity to learn about Jane and meeting her at our Jensen Reunion in '06. Her legacy is her loving husband and adoring children.
All who knew her has had their life enriched and blessed.
