Janene Marie (McKerchie) Budnick, aged 82, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ruth (McCoy) McKerchie, her sister Thelma, and brothers Donald and David. Janene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas J. Budnick, her daughters Cheryl Noffsinger (Doug Lipscomb) and Marsha Pease (John Rumney), granddaughters Stacy (Casey) Gerken and Jamie (Chuck) Skillman, grandsons Brent (Laura) Fields, Wesley Pease, Nicholas (Courtney) Noffsinger, Bobby Pease and her 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Myrl (Ed) Payment, Bonnie Hoops, Lynette (Bill) Marsh, Brenda (Tom) Cook, Laurie (Dan) Henry, John (Gayle) McKerchie, and Richard McKerchie; her many nieces and nephews and special friend of the family, Stan Toczylowski. Having grown up in Sault Ste Marie, Janene attended Sault Ste Marie High School and was crowned as a snow queen. Janene was an avid Red Wings fan, almost never missing a game. She was a member for many years of the American Legion Auxiliary post 459. She also loved to entertain and have family parties around the holidays. Janene was also a member of the Sault Ste Marie Chippewa Indian tribe. Please join the family at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 5-8pm for a time of visitation where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church (628 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 10:30am. Please consider a memorial contribution to either St. Isidore Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

I remember Janene from my days of playing music in the Polish clubs. It was so nice of Tom and her to invite my dad and I to fish at Perch Lake. My dad, of course, was a member of Tom's foursome for golf. Dick always said that if there were ever two nicer people, he has yet to meet them. I can say the same.

Tom, Marsha, Cheryl and families, we are so sorry for your loss. We have so many good memories we can't even begin to mention them all. Sunday mornings on 3 Mile Rd, we would have visitors for a morning salute. Little Hall and all the bikes and toys she would donate for the children, The golf tournaments and charity auction. The generosity was there. We would run into her all over and she always had a hug and smile for us. We will miss her and sympathies to all of you and yours
