Died January 2, 2009, at the age of 91. She was born February 19, 1917, in Hancock, MI, and was raised in Fennville, MI. A graduate of WMU's Library Science program, she was a school librarian in Lansing Public Schools for 22 years. She proudly served in the WAVES in the U.S. Navy in WWII. She is survived by: her husband, Benjamin E. S. Hamilton and two sons, James A. and William E. Hamilton. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Central United Methodist Church 215 N. Capitol Ave. Lansing, MI 48933. The family will receive friends Monday at the church one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Lansing, or to Friends of the Capitol Area District Library in memory of Janet Hamilton.

I just learned about Janet's death. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry that I didn't know in time to attend her memorial service. We'll miss seeing her at the symphony. We look forward to seeing you at the symphony soon. Take care

I just learned of Janet's passing from a colleague at MDE. I am so sorry for your family's loss. I'll remember her fondly from all your stories about her to the SoWeMi gang.

Ben, I just found out about Janet, very sorry to hear it. SHe was a great lady. I am glad she was able to come to our dinner at the Horticulture Garden.. Hope to see you in the spring.
