Janet Norwood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2022.
In Loving Memory of Janet Frances (Poklemba) Norwood of Springfield, PA (Delco), born September 10th, 1961 in Shamokin, PA. Janet (Lolli) earned her much-deserved wings as an Angel in heaven much too early on July 5, 2022 after an extended battle with Cordicobasal Disease. Preceded in death by her mother Francis (Longo) Poklemba, father Stephen Poklemba and sister Joanne Stevens as well as her dogs Jason Johnson and Bauer. Survived by her husband Ken (Pop), her sons Matt (Rachel), Steve, her grandchildren, who brought her so much joy; Josephine and Brooks and her labradoodle Jack Also survived by her sisters Mary Beebe, Frances Sacavage, Connie Vivian (John), Nancy Carragee and Teresa Beatty*, as well as many many other family and friends. Janet grew up in Scranton, which was never far from her heart, attended Scranton Central High School class of 1979, the University of Scranton and St. Joseph's University class of 1983 (Accounting / Finance). Janet was so kind. She had a passion for the outdoors and greatly enjoyed running and walking (herself and the dogs), both around her homes in Springfield, PA and in Pocono Pines, on Lake Naomi. Janet was an excellent cook and a meticulous and detailed manager of all things family, home and work. Janet loved travelling especially her annual treks to the Outer Banks and to Newport Rhode Island Janet was a loving mother and wife, and the best way to describe how special she was is through the loving actions of her sons and husband, who loved her more than anything else. Matt adored his mother and they would watch her favorite shows and movies together (Gilmore Girls and Hallmark) and would sit at the edge of his mom's bed and talk about their days well into his high school years. Steve chose to stay home to help his dad provide support and care to his mom, and was always able to supply a laugh and conjure a smile. Ken continued to be a dedicated and devoted husband, caring for Janet's every need, cherishing and loving Janet until death did they part. Throughout her life, Ken looked at Janet with as much love in his eyes as he did the day he met her at Smokey Joe's in West Philly in 1985. They were engaged to be married after six weeks of dating and were married for 35 years. Janet will be remembered, loved, and missed daily. In lieu of flowers, please be kind to someone today! Funeral services will be private and a future Celebration of Life will be planned. Thoughtfully written by Janet's Daughter-In-Law.
