Janet Simpson Procter

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Janet Simpson Procter, age 52, a devoted and loving daughter, wife and mother, will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Ron Wells officiating.
Janet passed into her eternal life on June 4, 2014, while under the care of The Hospice of East Texas, surrounded by her loving family members, after a brief but brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Janet came into this life on Dec. 22, 1961, in Lufkin, the only child of Bill and Elsie Simpson, of Lufkin.
Her 30-year marriage to John D. Procter brought forth two children who were the lights of her life - Andrew and Larkin.
Janet was the most whimsical human being to be around, so precious and unique, not like anyone else you had ever met. She dared to be herself and lived life with a zest unique only to her.
Her sense of style was uncompromising. She had a talent for throwing mysterious outfits together. Whether it was for mowing her yard, shopping, working out or entertaining friends on the patio, she always looked adorable. She was one of a kind and the world has been a better place because of her.
She loved shopping at thrift stores and scouring junk shops for bargains. She lived life with abandon, creating a glorious mess all over her yard. She loved people from all walks of life and treated all people with dignity and respect. That is one reason why she was loved by so many. To visit with her made you unable to leave her without a smile on your face. She loved sharing her faith in God and has been a blessing and inspiration to those who knew her. The world is a happier place because of Janet and a sadder place because of her loss.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John Procter, of Tyler; her parents, Bill and Elsie Simpson, of Lufkin; her son, Andrew; and her daughter and son-in-law, Tee and Larkin Hawkins, of Tyler. She will be missed by her extended family of cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends who knew her. She graciously donated her body to medical research. She was loving and giving in life as well as death.

Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant, Janet, with thy saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.
