Wood!!! It's LePat here! (Janet used to call me and start the conversation with LePat it's Wood here)
Janet . I just wanted to remind you that you forever changed my life and focus. When Tina introduced us back in '89, none of us had any idea what would bloom. Back in '89, all you wanted from me at that time was another female voice on the blazer-clad board of the Vancouver Rose Society. You were the first female President ever, and it was possibly the only time in our relationship that I recall you being actually freaked out about how things would go. As it turned out, YOU were awesome and all I had to do was drive you to meetings, take notes and mail the Rose Bed (newsletter). Since that time I watched you support and inspire literally hundreds of people with your amazing laugh and bizarrely extensive knowledge. not just roses and all things gardening either: I started a list, but lost track after New York Times crosswords and London Cryptics haggus drunken signing etc. etc.
An obituary often sounds like a very finite publication, but Janet, there is nothing finite about your passing. There is so much Janet A. Wood in all of us. When I say Wood!!! It's LePat here!, I am speaking to all of us who are lucky enough to have part of you in our souls forever.
At this point in this missive, I will raise a glass (me - wine, and you - beer) and light a cigarette and reflect on our amazing relationship.
Janet. Thanks for being my pal. You will be with me for as long as I live and I know that I have enough Janet in me to pass it on.
Cheers and Love
Mary LePatourel - aka LePat

Janet will always be remembered for her cheerful, welcoming and flamboyant personality.
A great rosarian and mentor she enlightened so many and was always a ray of sunshine at the Vancouver Rose Society meetings.
Thank you Janet.
