Janet Woodcock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Janet Louise Woodcock, 87, of Pittsburgh, Pa passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her husband by her side. Janet was born on May 3, 1938 to Ruth Elizabeth Greene (nee Powell) and Chester Irwin Greene.

She was a graduate of North Allegheny High School, attended Edinboro Teachers College and holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Janet spent her 87 years as a wife, mother, friend, role model, artist, teacher, entrepreneur and business owner, and as an ardent supporter of most progressive causes. She was truly a woman ahead of her time, having had the privilege and determination to build a life (almost) of her own choosing in an era when woman were not often afforded that opportunity. Janet was a passionate artist (acrylics) who exhibited her paintings in galleries and museums around Southwestern PA. She and Terry enjoyed traveling, reading, art, theater, jazz music and every British crime thriller produced by the BBC.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles (Terry) Woodcock and her 5 children, Kim Littell (Fred), Karen Woodcock, Marty Woodcock (Amy), David Woodcock and Katherine Woodcock (Rachel), her grandchildren Elizabeth Hawley (Eric), Joseph Littell (MacKenzie), Benjamin Woodcock and Lena Woodcock (Dallas), and two great-grandchildren Hannah and Liam.
