Mrs. Janice Faye (Gill) Smith passed away July 21st 2025 in Bradenton FL. She was 78 years old. Born in Lakeland, FL, February 24th, 1947 to parents Evelyn Elaine (Harrelson) Gill and Harry James Gill, Sr.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Donal Terrence Smith, 2014, and her sister, Phyllis (Gill) Haught, 2025. She is survived by her three sons; Gary DeVaughn Boutwell, Jr., Mark Alan Boutwell, Keith Shannon (Randie) Boutwell, all of Lakeland FL. Janice has 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, as well as 11 nephews and nieces and 12 great nephews and nieces. Brother, Harry James (Vicki) Gill, Jr., and sister, Lisa Ann (Gill) Richardson.

Janice loved the outdoors and nature. Many summers and holidays were spent fishing at the beach on Anna Maria Island and enjoying time with family and friends. She was a skilled horticulturist and had beautiful gardens of many varieties. She also enjoyed art and antique shopping, acquiring beautiful pieces that adorned her well decorated home with many shades of turquoise throughout, her favorite color. Hosting family gatherings or neighborhood cookouts with her faithful dogs by her side, Scooter and Blue, was a regular event for Janice. She enjoyed cooking her delicious southern dishes as much as everyone enjoyed eating them. She and Don had great relationships with their 2nd family, their neighbors, many of whom remained lifelong friends.

A memorial service will be held in Lakeland FL to honor her.
