Janice Amelia (Hester) Pemberton, age 73, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away at her home surrounded by her children on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 9:00 AM.

She was born in Prairie Grove near Fayetteville, Arkansas on January 19, 1950 to Louis Otis Hester and Dell Bernice (King) Hester.

Janice "Mrs. P." Pemberton was very proud to have been a recreational specialist for the Tennessee Prison for Women (TPW) now known as the Debra K. She was known to be kind always and exceptionally fair-minded.

She was fiercely loving to and proud of her twin daughters and three grandchildren and will long be remembered for her independent spirit, enduring devotion to her family and her great love of her books and of learning for "As Long as the Sun and Moon Shall Endure."

Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Farris Leon Pemberton; parents, Otis and Dell Hester; and sisters, Melanie Marie Hester and Rosetta Jane Landelius.

She is survived by her daughters, B. Dawn Camp (Austin Camp) and M. Shawn Pemberton (Amanda Burns); brothers, Lloyd Combs, Charles Hester, Louis M. "Beaver" Hester, Louis Otis Hester Jr., Lucas Hester, Lain Hester, Landis Hester, and Lyndel Hester; sisters, Nancy Townsend and Kaye Dozier; and adoring grandchildren, Tracy Desiree Pemberton, Alora Jasper N. Camp, and William Braiden N. Camp.

She had numerous cousins, neices, nephews and friends who loved her.
