Janie Walker Obituary
Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and resume on Monday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by a procession to Mimosa Pines for Graveside services. Mrs. Walker passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was met at the gates of Heaven by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Jeff Walker; two brothers, Leo Keene and Lester Keene; and sister, Lucille Keene. Mrs. Walker was born in Dixie, Louisiana, raised in Newellton, La., and was a longtime resident of Sulphur. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church. She loved to read, make baby blankets and watch Days of Our Lives.
She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Weigle and husband Tom, of Slidell, La., Betty Wing and husband Dennis, of Sulphur, and Beverly Taylor-Watson and husband Warren, of Lake Charles; one son, Dan Walker and wife Kayla, of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Rocky Keene and wife Mary, of Corsicana, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Gene and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Janie Walker's family. I met them in 1960 when my dad was transferred to Sulphur from AR. We went to church at Parkview Baptist and they were some of the first people we were introduced to. Barbara & I became fast friends. I spent many days & nights at their house. There are lots of memories. This family was & is very special to me. Our prayers are with the family as they go thru this trying time. We send our love.
