Jason Robert Paul Donovan

Newport, RI - Jason Robert Paul Donovan, 35, of Newport, RI, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at home. He was the beloved husband of Lara (Pasternak) Donovan and the proud father of Kyle Paul Donovan. Born in Newport, RI on February 6, 1975, he was the son of Paul and Maureen (Toppa) Donovan of Newport. Jason grew up in Newport and graduated from Rogers High School in 1993 where he was on the football, baseball and basketball teams. He continued to stay involved in sports as an adult and played rugby for the Newport Rugby Club. Jason coached his son's basketball games and was always on the sidelines for his football games. He worked with his father in the family plumbing business for several years and then went on to become an offshore commercial fisherman. Jason loved spending time outdoors and on the water, but his favorite activity was spending time with his son Kyle. He is survived by his son Kyle Donovan of Newport, RI, his wife Lara Donovan of Swansea, MA, his parents Paul and Maureen Donovan of Newport, RI, his wife's parents Thomas and Patricia Pasternak of Fall River, MA, his grandparents, Augustine Toppa and his wife Nancy of Middletown, RI, Jane Toppa and her companion Leo of Newport, RI and Daniel and Elizabeth Donovan, Jr of Newport, RI, his sisters, Janetta Donovan and Jennifer Churchill and her husband Shawn all of Newport, RI, his brother in law Michael Pasternak and his wife Andrea, and his nieces and nephews, Rylee Muncy-Donovan, Julian Muncy-Donovan, Shawn Churchill Jr., Jamie Churchill, Max Pasternak and Ava Pasternak. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 4-6 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. His funeral will be held at St. Stanislaus Church, 36 Rockland Street, Fall River, MA, at a date to be announced.
