JAY LAMB

Jay Lamb was an adoring father, husband, brother, philosopher, and teacher, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on January 22, 2023. After careers in the Fairfax County Health Department, US Treasury Dept, and the National Consumer Coop Bank in the 1970s, Jay found his true passion in teaching. He began at Rocky Run Middle School, then moved on to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 1986 where he taught government, history, philosophy and world religions for 26 years.

After retiring Jay wrote Religions of the World: A Question of Faith, a book which seeks to help bring understanding to the religions of the world and provides a pathway for better understanding one's own faith. Jay was also instrumental in the renaming of Confederate Era street names in the city of Fairfax.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sandra Murray Lamb, his four daughters, Sheila (Pete Pazmino), Sara, Rebecca and Jenna who were the lights of his life, his sister Melody Jankowski (Mike), brother Joshua Lamb (Dee), and many adoring nieces and nephews. Jay was predeceased by his son, Benjamin Murray Lamb. A celebration of Jay's life will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home at 9902 Braddock Road in Fairfax, VA at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February. 4.

All of us in Kenya are thinking of the Lamb family today as you remember and honor your wonderful husband and father.

In his honor, we donated to a cause that we thought he might have supported: "Religions for Peace" (https://www.rfp.org/) which works across religious communities to provide humanitarian relief, discuss global issues, and build understanding.

While we deeply wish there was something more we could do to take away your grief, we hope you continue to feel surrounded by his and our love today and every day.

Sincerely,
Rachel, Kayla, Carina, Tyler, and Sahar

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
