JC McPike Obituary
JC was born April 12, 1929, in Mound City, Mo., and lived all his life in St. Joseph.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a tank commander and platoon sergeant in 1951 and 1952 in the 115th Infantry of the 28th Division.
JC worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Beaty Grocery Co. and Dugdale Packing Co., and was a member of Teamster's Union Local No. 460 before retiring in 1985.
He also was a member of Charity Lodge No. 331, Scottish Rite of St. Joseph, Moila Shrine Temple and Legion of Honor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Orange McPike; brothers, Russell and Mitchell; and sisters, Opal Madel and Maxine O'Neal.
In 1953, JC married Barbara Jo Hastings, who survives him of the home.
He also is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Sherry McPike of St. Joseph; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and David Madsen of Houston, Texas; daughter, Janessa McPike of St. Joseph; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sandra McPike of Clarksdale, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Joseph, under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Visitation: begins after 9 a.m. Saturday, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
