Jean C. Gordon

Our dear mother Jean C. Gordon passed away Monday, July 31st at home with her family by her side. She and her husband William H. Gordon, Jr celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary July 25th. She was born the same year as Queen Elizabeth and always loved and admired her, from the pre-WWII years onwards. She loved all things Royal family-she was an anglophile who knew all the branches of the Royal Family Tree and followed their lives avidly. She was a rock for our family; she was the one who remembered dates and occasions, the one who wrote the cards with her beautiful handwriting. She loved the Episcopal Church and was never happier than when attending high church services with smells and bells. She attended ordinations and bishop consecrations, conventions and diocesan meetings, always with a deep love of ceremony and proper procedure. She directed the acolytes for years at her beloved St. Ambrose in Claremont. Her ministry with the acolytes was among her most cherished responsibilites.

She is survived by her husband Bill, and her children Steve, William, Valerie, and Michele, Her daughter in law Phyllis, and Grandchildren Christina, Caitlyn and Olivia.

Her internment is August 5th at Oak Park Cemetery in Claremont.

Her memorial service is Saturday , August 5th at 1 p.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church in Claremont with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Ambrose Episcopal Church.
