Jean LaCroix Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 23 to Feb. 25, 2024.
Hyannis - Jean LaCroix, loving husband and father, died in the Cape Cod home he loved on February 21. Jean was born to Louis and Juliette (Larocque) LaCroix in Spencer, Massachusetts on July 31, 1942. Jean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda (Berger) LaCroix: he is also survived by his sons and their spouses, Jack and Simone LaCroix of Spencer, and Matthew LaCroix and Deborah Baker of Cherry Valley; his grandchildren John LaCroix II, Sam LaCroix, Ben LaCroix and Grayson LaCroix; and his sister, Lucille Dion. He was predeceased by a brother, David LaCroix.

Jean was a graduate of Worcester Boy's Trade High School and spent most of his working life as a skilled craftsman in the machine tool and die industry.

Also known as "John" to most, he was an accomplished handyman, and was happiest when working on countless projects, both at his own home, and those of his many friends. Since moving to the Cape in 2014, he became an avid golfer and a proud member of the Harwich Port Golf Club, where he and his buddies played golf daily, and then attempted to solve the world's problems on the club's front porch. He also loved animals, especially dogs. While living in Spencer, and later on the Cape, he could often be seen walking his basset hound, Cooper, making many stops along the way for treats and conversation.

John was happiest when spending time with family, especially his two sons. We have many wonderful memories of good times spent together; playing father/son hockey, skiing, racing weekends, and family gatherings for any reason. He was grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of his grandchildren's childhoods, and he was proud of them as adults.

A kind, warm, generous and unassuming man, he will be missed by his loving family and his many close and valued friends.

Our family is grateful to the Cape Cod VNA Hospice, especially Diane Munsell R.N., for John's care and for supporting us during the last weeks of his life. We also gratefully acknowledge our friends and extended family members who were there with us every step along the way.

Please remember John with random acts of kindness.

A Celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.

Great guy simply the best, sorry he passed away but I will always remember John as a true person and friend. He was always willing to help me in any project and he knew his stuff, very talented hard working man. John will be missed, so terrible that his life has ended.
