Jean Landers

Jean Landers of Escondido, California, passed away at home on August 16, at the age of 90. She was born on October 22, 1934, in Iraan, Texas, where she grew up with her beloved siblings, Helen, Hollis, Ken, and Ray.

She is preceded in death by her father, Austin Lee Rose; her mother, Jessie Ann Rose; her sister, Helen Prieskorn; and her brothers, Hollis Rose, Ken Rose, and Ray Rose.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Olthoff; son-in-law, Gary Olthoff; grandson, Jordan Olthoff, and great-granddaughter, Ameli Olthoff.

Jean was known for her strong, grounded nature and brought humor and warmth into everyday life. She enjoyed the company of two Pomchi companions, Ozzy and Izzy. She relished tackling her crossword puzzles with her morning coffee, demanded that her burgers be cooked extra, extra well done, and would often exclaim 'Delicioso' when enjoying a good meal. She was an avid genealogist for much of her adult life, where she met so many wonderful people whom she adored and admired. She also loved art, being a collector and a masterful artist herself.

Jean will be remembered for her grit, her love of family, and her ability to find joy in both life's small pleasures and meaningful traditions. Jean leaves behind a legacy of creativity, humor, and strength that few can match.

The family would like to thank hospice nurses Michelle and Mary for the care and compassion they showed our family and the entire hospice team from Shores, who were an absolute blessing during Jean's final days.

Private services will be held with immediate family as we follow Jean's wishes.
