My heart is heavy as I just found out of Mrs. Rhinehammers passing. She was one of my three favorites at Bauer! Her legacy lives on in each of us who had the privilege of having her. I will never forget how she taught us to remember our B verbs and who can forget how she layed on her desk to show us how to pre make our beds in the morning. I just loved her! I'll never forget her consoling me when Dr Sears passed. I feel so blessed to have been taught by her in more ways than one. My sincerest sympathy to all her family and friends!

Mrs. Rhinehammer...
You were an amazing teacher!! You were one of my favorites, along with Nancy Foster, that inspired me to teach. I learned so much from you, but most of all, I learned to love reading. You were the person I needed in fifth grade at Bauer. Thank you! ❤

I only found out yesterday through my mother that Mrs. Rhinehammer had passed away. My heart stood still. Mrs. Rhinehammer was my 4th grade teacher at Bauer Elementary School. If ever I am asked who my favorite teacher was through the course of my education, my answer is quick, perhaps even before the entire question is asked, "Mrs. Rhinehammer"! She had such a lasting impact on me, so much so that I think of her often. I so appreciated her kind and loving manner both inside and outside of the classroom. Even more so, she was strict! This insured that each and every student was well behaved and showed respect for one another. This made for the absolute best learning environment. There was no funny business taking place in her classroom, just an atmosphere of warmth and kindness unequaled to none. I couldn't wait to enter that room where peace prevailed. I remember a few times where some students would become unruly. Her face would turn this deep red and she would just walk out of the classroom. Ohhhh....we all knew something was terribly wrong! This made for a quick "settle down" of all! Then she would walk back in, calm and composed, and picked up right where she had left off. Never a harsh word. We all loved her so much that we didn't want to disappoint her in any way. The strength of her character came through in those moments. I learned that you didn't have to yell or scream to bring about a loving and kind environment. I was only 9 years old when she was my teacher. I went back to visit her when I was nearly 30 years old and she recognized me immediately. "Me", out of all the thousands of students she must have had over the years. If that doesn't show her heart as a teacher, nothing does. I remember asking her that day if she planned to retire anytime soon. She was carrying a tote bag full of books and she turned it around for me. The words read, "I will never retire"! I believe she never did in many ways. Her heart was given to the hearts and lives of children forever. There will never be another like her. Mrs. Rhinehammer, thank you so much for your love and dedication. Your inspiration lives on in our hearts and actions. I will never, ever forget you. My love goes out to all of Mrs. Rhinehammer's family, friends and all the lives she so deeply touched. I truly believe her legacy will live on for generations to come.

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing! She and Ben were among my most favorite people and were such an important part of our family network over the years. I will always remember them with love! The last time that I saw your Mom she reminded me how difficult it was for "a girl to lose her mother." Keep that in mind and take care of yourselves. Hope both of you can relive many wonderful memories together.

My brother, cousins and I were taught by Mrs. Jean Rhinehammer at Bauer Elementary School. Her classroom was thoroughly enjoyable since she was a natural in the field of education. IAs a retired teacher myself, I am so glad to have had a positive, caring, cooperative role model as Mrs. Rhinehammer.

What a wonderful, unique person Jean was! My late husband, Don Sears, was always singing her praises for being a role model to her colleagues and such an inspiration to her students. She was also a great neighbor for many years. My love and sympathy to all her family who she so dearly loved.

I loved Mrs. Rhinehammer so much! What a wonderful teacher and mentor. My brother and I both had her at Bauer for 4th grade where she made a lasting impact on me with her kindness and patient heart. Truly, my most memorable teacher...what a wonderful lady!! My favorite memory was her afternoon story time. Putting our heads down on our desks and hearing her read was the best adventure and definitely helped me to become a life long reader! A great lady who influenced so many! God Bless you and your family.
