Jeanne Donars Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2023.
Jeanne Lois Donars (nee Kubik) 90, of Peoria, AZ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Jeanne was a former longtime resident of Scottsdale, AZ and Hinsdale, Riverside, LaGrange Park and Berwyn, IL.

She was born on October 8, 1932, in Berwyn, IL, to the late John Frank and Ella (Tomayer) Kubik. Jeanne was preceded in death by her brother Jack R (Barbara) Kubik, husband Paul William Donars, and son-in-law Edward Richard Switala.

Jeanne is survived by her loving children: Kimberly Ella Donars, Kerry Michael Donars (Tom Beery), Scott Richard (Maggie) Donars, and Stacey Jeanne (Robert) Crawford. She was also a cherished grandmother to Amelia Jeanne (Lucas) LePrey, Peter Kerry (Sharmila) Donars, Matthew Ruddy Donars, Sara Jeanne Donars, Michael Richard (Kathleen) Switala, Thomas Robert Switala, and Patrick Alexander Switala and great-grandchildren, Rowan Michael LePrey, Charlie Edward Switala, and Louise Lynn LePrey. Jeanne was fondly referred to as "Chick" by her children. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne attended Hiawatha Grammar School, graduate of J Sterling Morton High School where she met her future husband Paul in Miss Palm's History Class. She further pursued her education at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Jeanne and Paul were married on October 2, 1954. Jeanne was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Gamma Beta Chapter.

Jeanne was always involved with her children's activities assuming the role of Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. When the children entered grammar school, Jeanne returned to the workforce part time as a Dental Hygienist for Joseph V Discipio, DDS in Berwyn. Her passion for dental care led her to serve as President and VP of the Illinois Dental Hygienist Association. After over 17 years at the dental office, Jeanne explored her entrepreneurial spirit by becoming a Color Me Beautiful Consultant and owning a women's accessory shop in LaGrange and Hinsdale, IL.
Once the grandchildren entered her life, she became instrumental in their daily care. She also shared her love for gardening with her grandchildren, creating The Wonder Weeders, a gardening service for local clients Jeanne acquired through her garden club memberships.

In her free time, Jeanne enjoyed travel, skiing, playing tennis, achieving a hole in one in golf, and tending to her beautifully manicured gardens, which were featured in multiple garden tours in Hinsdale. She also found solace in needlepoint, knitting and playing bridge.

A private family memorial to celebrate Jeanne's life will be held in late October 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Lost Our Home Pet Rescue, located at 2323 S. Hardy Drive, Tempe, AZ. Contributions can also be made by calling 602-445-7387.

Jeanne Lois Donars will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.

We met in gym class and became instant friends that lasted all our lives. Our husbands were buddies too. We stood up to each others weddings. When our kids were toddlers we had so much fun sharing our families. I am happy they enjoyed their years in the their Lutheran faith which we introduced them to in LaGrange. All my memories of us is filled with love, laughter and a deep friendship. I will miss chatting with you Jeanne...you are now with your beloved Paul. Love, Pat Wascher-Allan

I have so many fond memories of Chick
She placed family in her heart more than life itself. Even to those who didn´t reciprocate. She deserved better. I can´t remember ever meeting a person so full of love and forgiveness. She tried her best to instill those qualities into her children. The Chick never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I will try my best to devote the rest of my life to spreading her message of love.
Since reaching my "Golden Years", and slowly losing memories, my favorites came from spending the last few weeks with her by my side. I was able to see the joy in her face light up when her children and grandchildren called for the last time. We held each others hands and wept. I like to think our tears were created out of love for the life we all shared together.

My Mom was a lovely and caring woman whom I will miss very much. My favorite memories are of our many family vacations, and times when we took the "EL" train with my grandmother to shop in downtown Chicago at Christmas time. We´d always lunch at Marshall Fields and see the window displays. In later years she enjoyed visiting me in Denver with my Dad and niece Sara. We all enjoyed the Denver Botanical Gardens together.
I feel an eternal bond with her and feel certain we will meet again in another life. I love you Mom,
Kimberly

Mom you were a class act . I have tremendous amounts of gratitude for the guidance and support you provided while raising me. The help and love you gave to my children and the deep friendship that we shared. I am blessed by all the memories I have. You will be missed more than I can ever explain. Rest in peace and give my love to all the family in heaven
