Jeffrey Lee Bassett, 41, of Niles, Mich., died from Pick?s Disease, on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at Whispering Woods Nursing Home, in Grand Rapids, Mich. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, 11:00am, at St. Paul?s Episcopal Church, 914 Lane Dr., St. Joseph, Mich., Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, Mich. Friends may call from 6-8pm, Thursday, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, Mich. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 1260 Elkhart NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Those wishing to share a memory on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Jeffrey was born in St. Joseph, Mich., on July 28, 1961, to Charles and Marjorie (Baumgardt) Bassett. He worked at Dexter Axles for 17 years, in Elkhart, Indiana. Jeff loved his boys. He enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing, camping, helping other people and was a friend of Bill W.
Jeffrey is survived by two sons ? Justin and Christopher Bassett of Anderson, Ind.; two sisters ? Paula (Mike) Durren of Buchanan, Mich., Marsha (Mike Simpson) Thornton of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two brothers ? Ronald (Nina) Basset-Smith of Keizer, Oregon; and Brian Bassett of Niles, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeffery is preceded in death by his parents.
