I am shocked to learn that Jeff had passed. I worked with him at rainbow, fresh out of fellowship, and he opened my eyes to the world of PCCM. Rest In Peace big guy, the children and students of the world have lost a true champion.

You were a man a few words but much wisdom and compassion. You pulled our family through some of our darkest hours. Always understanding, kind and patient, no matter the time of day or night. God took one of the very best, but left us with all the wonderful memories. You will be missed by many. Rich & Darleen

I was a very green pediatric respiratory therapist at Rainbow Jeff scared the hell out of me but always demanded the best I had to give. He taught me an immense amount about caring for patients and families. I grew to respect him more than words can say. Jeff the world is less bright with out you . Kim and kids my condolences.

It is with great sorrow that I write in this book. I have know Jeff since I was a pediatric resident in 1991 and respected him a great deal. I was truly excited when he moved to our area in Toledo where he became our chairman and truly supported his faculty and residents. His accomplishments in or field will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. I was honored to have been educated by him as a resident and cardiology fellow and led by him as our chairman of Pediatrics in Toledo. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and those that did not get the chance. May he always rest in peace and may God bless his surviving family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff during his time as Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo. He was a kind and caring physician and I was proud to have worked under his leadership. My sincere condolences to his family.

I work at Rainbow and always heard nothing but good things about Dr. Jeffrey Blumer. His teaching and mentorship was all that was talked about. So many people went with him to Toledo, that does not always happen. What a giant of a man, he will be missed. God Bless his family.

Anything and everything I ever knew about being a good doctor, I learned from Jeff. He was my "work dad" who helped me grow up in medicine. And not only did he teach/inspire/mentor me, but he did the same for an entire generation of pediatricians. His impact on helping children will not only be felt on the kids of yesterday and today, but will continue on into the future as the doctors he trained continue his work and the programs he helped to develop continue to find ways to better the lives of children.

In July 2006, I did my first rotation in the Rainbow Pediatric ICU as a pediatrics resident. Dr. Blumer was my first PICU Attending, my first PICU mentor, and an inspiration for the career I have embarked on. He was a great man, an amazing physician, and a world-renowned researcher. He touched countless lives, and his impact will be everlasting. It was a privilege to know him and learn from him, and I will continue to use his life as a guiding force in my career.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. Jeff was a tremendous caregiver and leader. He created a community of caregivers who are better for having worked with him. He will not be forgotten.

In my world Jeff Blumer walked on water! I am the nurse I am today because Jeff demanded the best and knew how to make you believe you were that. Not always gentle but always kind❤ So many children have him to thank. The world has lost a great man. So sorry Kim and kids for your loss.
This was at Deer Valley in 2005 when Jeff attended a research retreat for young physician scientists.

I met Jeff in 1971 at Northwestern, and we worked together on the NIH training program for 15 years until he was unable to attend the retreat last year. He was a terrific mentor to our trainees, and to me.

Dr. Blumer will always be in my memory as an amazing teacher during my residency (2002-2005) and an enormous advocate for patients. So sorry to hear about his passing, but please know that he touched so many people's lives and has trained so many doctors who will carry on his legacy. May this bring you a little bit of peace during this difficult time. Prayers to your family.
