Jeffrey Johnson Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Jul. 31, 2008.

Jeffrey O. Johnson

Jeffrey O. Johnson aka "Jeter Mouse" or "Mousy" was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2008, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was born in Charlottes-ville on July 3, 1956, the third of six children to Rosemarie W. and Robert E. Johnson Sr.

Jeff was raised in a devout Christian home and was baptized at an early age in First Baptist Church on West Main Street. He learned early his personal path of duty and followed it with unselfishness and dedication until his passing.

Jeff was employed by the Aberdeen Barn as a Chef and pursued this career with passion for 30 years. There he was endeared by all. In addition to being a Chef he ran a small lawn care business that was an extension of his friendship and service to others where he serviced primarily family, neighbors and friends. Jeff's Snip and Clip was such a passion that he continued through his illness. He was a kind, loving and thoughtful person, wonderful husband and the best father to his girls and the life of a party. According to his daughter Yukie he was the glue that held them together. If you needed a helping hand he extended his, if you needed someone to talk to he was a willing listener, and he hosted the best family cookouts in Charlottesville.

In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 27 years and best friend for 34 years, Helena V. Estes-Johnson; three children, Yukie M. Johnson of Richmond, Katrina A. and Nina S. Johnson of Charlottesville; four brothers, Ron J. and his wife, Robin, of Short Pump, Virginia; Robert E. Jr. and his wife, Jeannie, of Dover, Georgia, George R. and Larry L. Johnson, and one sister, Eilise A. Johnson, all of Charlottes-ville, Virginia. Also surviving him are a sister-in-law, Paula Fowler and her husband, Floyd, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and brother-in-law, Paul Estes Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his grandmother, Annie V. Rice of Washington, D.C.; his special aunts, Sallie W. Robinson and Ada W. Monroe of Charlottesville, Virginia; three uncles, Wilfred "88 Keys" Wilson of Charlottesville, Virginia, Danny Young and his wife, Belinda, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Leonard Rice of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

May his soul find peace, favor and acceptance with his maker and indeed may his good works live on.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Mt Airy Baptist Church Faber, Virginia (Nelson County) with the Reverend George Gohanna officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

His remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (www.jfbellfuneralhome.com)

This is to the Entire Johnson Family

His Journey ( Jeffrey Johnson)
Don't think of him as gone away, His journey just begun. Life holds so many facets, This earth is only one. Just think of him as resting, From the sorrow and the tears, In a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days and years.Think how he must be wishing That we could know today,How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away.
And think of of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched, For nothing loved is ever lost, And he was loved so much. Love Conchita Wilson and Kevin Wilson
Your Cousin's who will truly miss you.

Our Beloved Helena, Ukie, Katrina and Nina,

Robin, Jared, Jillian and I love you from the core of our beings. Our families have been close over the years and a blessing to each other. As I told Jeffrey, we have your back going forward. If there is anything that we can do--you just have to pick up the phone and call. We are looking forward to everyone visiting us in Richmond and to have some quality down time in the next few weeks.

Your husband and father was the "real mccoy". When God made him--he broke the mold.

Love and blessings,

Angela Estes

Deepest sympathies to all of the Johnson family. Jeffrey (Jeter) was an original from day one. He had positive influence on all the upcoming young lifeguards (like myself) in the early/mid seventies at Washington Park Pool where he worked during that time. May he rest in peace knowing that his enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten. Sincere thoughts and prayers.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To uncle Jeff, I really cannot express what I am feeling over the last few days. In my heart I always knew you would be around to pick on me and to joke like you always used to. To know you are gone I feel a part of me is missing when I come home to Charlottesville. I will never forget the times you and Aunt Ne Ne and the girls came to Dover and we all spent time at the beach or the time you and Uncle Larry came up and we had a great time. I will cherish those memories forever and I find comfort knowing that I will see you again one day and you can pick on me again. I love you Uncle Jeff and I miss you. Your loving niece, Dawn

Lisa Johnson,

I love you more than words can express at this time. Many memories will live in my heart for days to come. 912 Paoli Street always had love and good family. Thanks Lisa for allowing me to meet and know Mouse. Once I spoke with Mother and she said, "now he is resting in peace" I knew at that moment, Mouse was healed. I pray that all of you know God makes no mistakes and he loves us all.

Much love my friend,

To the Family:

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and suffering is over
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And he came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread
And with Jesus' arm to lean on
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.

There is still work waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU ALL. MAY YOU FIND COMFORT IN YOUR MEMORIES OF MOUSE.I WAS TOLD OF HIS PASSING TUESDAY MORNING,AND TO BE HONEST,IT HURTS LIKE CRAZY TO KNOW I WILL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN IN THIS LIFE. MOUSE WAS ONE OF THOSE RARE PEOPLE WHO YOU FELT YOU WERE BETTER OFF IN LIFE BECAUSE YOU KNEW HIM.I CAN REMEMBER HOW WE USE TO RIDE AROUND IN THE BIG LINCOLN (WITH THE SUICIDE DOORS) THE VISITS TO WILLIAMSBURG BEFORE HE MOVED BACK TO CH,VILLE.THE WORLD WAS A BETTER PLACE WITH PEOPLE LIKE MOUSE AROUND.STILL GOD NEVER,EVER MAKES MISTAKES. WE HAVE TO TRUST HIS JUDGEMENT ALWAYS.WE ARE TO CELEBRATE A HOME GOING,A RIGHT OF PASSAGE TO THE NEXT LIFE. NO MORE PAIN,NO MORE SORROW.IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT,AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT. WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP ONE WITH ANOTHER,AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN (john 1:7) MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALL DURING YOUR TIME OF BEREAVEMENT.
