Jeffrey J. Stevens, 56, of Rochester, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, in Rochester.

Jeffrey James Stevens was born April 2, 1960, in Rochester, to Merlin and Elaine (Dilworth) Stevens. Jeff graduated from Hayfield High School in 1978 and graduated from Winona State University in 1982. He married Cheryl (Linder) on Aug. 27, 1983. They lived in Cedar Rapids for two years before moving to Rochester in 1985. Jeff began work at Mayo Clinic as a programmer and later moved into the role of Division Chair of Information Technology. During that time, Jeff opened Golf USA in Rochester and operated it for nine years. He was always improving himself; he later received his master's in business management from Cardinal Stritch University.

Jeff's many great qualities include being great with children, always generous, and having a calming effect on others. He has changed us all for the better. Jeff had a playful competitive spirit and enjoyed watching and playing sports such as golf, basketball and baseball. Jeff will be remembered for his twinkling blue eyes, mischievous smile, and contagious laugh. He was a loving son, husband and father who will be deeply missed.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Rochester; two sons, Tanner (Diane) of St. Louis Park and Mickey of Minneapolis; his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Art DePuy of Rochester; two brothers, Jerry (Theresa) Stevens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mike (Tammy) Stevens of Hayfield; three sisters, Linda (Stan) Timmerman of New Richland, Nancy (Terry) Gulbransen of Hayfield, Judy (Tom) Sanvik of Winona; one sister-in-law, Mary (Bernie) Stevens-Cash of Fort Ripley; one stepbrother, Scott DePuy of Winona and one stepsister, Kelley (Jerry) Reecher of St. George, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and twin sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, and one hour prior to the mass on Thursday. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
