Jerome (Jerry) Husted Obituary
Born on December 21st, 1927 Jerry spent his youth in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. Jerry Attended the University of Washington for one year, and served in the Army for the last two years of WWII. After the war Jerry finished out his University training at Whitman College where he met his first wife Vie Hopkins. They were married in 1952 and raised their family in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park, WA.
Jerry was an entrepreneur. He is remembered for his ownership of Blue Water Boats, where he built the Ingrid 38 ketch, but he will mostly be remembered for his development and ownership of Nordic Tugs (with lots of help). Jerry retired from Nordic Tugs in 2006, at the age of 80, after having personally performed the final trial runs of about 850 Nordic Tugs.
Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of their children- Vie (Hopkins) Husted, his life-partner Nancy (Ashenfelter) Husted, brother- Colonel James T. Husted and sister- Mary Beth Reisner.
Jerry is survived by his 2 children Kenneth Husted (Lise); Nicki Bailey (Jerry); four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and 8 step-children. Jerry is also remembered by his sister-in-law Rosemie Husted, brother-in-law L. James Hopkins, and 2nd wife Virginia Husted.
Please join us for Jerry Husted's Memorial Brunch. Friday, June 7, 2024.
Jerry's ashes will be spread in Fidalgo Bay in the early morning with the help of Nordic Tugs.
Brunch will start at 10:30am at The Depot Building (611 R Avenue, Anacortes, WA). There will be lots to eat, please come to share your "Jerry" stories.

I knew him when I worked at Nordic tug. Always such a nice man. And some of my fondest memories are going on sea trial with him. Sail on captain.
