Jerre Brammeier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2024.
Jerre Jill Brammeier (McWha), 85 of Lincoln, NE, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, community activist, and passionate Methodist. She began her life on February 20, 1939, in North Platte, NE, and peacefully died at home with her family by her side, on May 29 2024. She was the daughter of Robert Dupree McWha and Esther McWha.

Jerre possessed a natural leadership presence with a strong communication ability to get things done. The Methodist Church played an active role in her life to accomplish so many things. Jerre went to Nebraska Wesleyan University where she met the love of her life, Roland Brammeier and was married on 4/24/59. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1970, and taught elementary school in Chandler, AZ and Los Angeles, CA. Her love for Victorian antiques, led her to be featured in national interior design publications. She owned Zink Hardware store in Sterling, NE and Victoria's Cousin Curiosity Shop an afternoon tea and antique shop in Lincoln, NE. Jerre served as President of the Woman's Welcome Club of Lincoln, St. Paul UMC Finance Committee, and the Tucson Armory Park Neighborhood Association. She was on the Near South Neighborhood Association Board, National Honor Society, Voice of Democracy Winner, Job's Daughters, Camp Shoshoni, Sherwood Music School, Chicago, IL, and National Forensic League. She loved to shop, traveled extensively, and played Bridge throughout her life. She cherished her friends and family. Let's just say she has been extremely active over her amazing 85 years.

She is survived by her sons Matthew (Cynthia) of Lincoln, NE, and Mark (Andrea) of Santa Monica, CA. Jerre was also a second mom to Sheila Chavez, Luis Gloria, and Linda Wingate. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Clayton, Miranda, Brittany, and Jack, as well as great-grandchildren Kaius and Makayla. Jerre is also survived by nieces, a nephew, and a multitude of family and friends who grieve and celebrate her life.

Jerre was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Dupree McWha and Esther Durham, husband Rev. Roland Brammeier, and her brother, John McWha.

Jerre's funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE, on June 14th, 2024, at 11am to celebrate her amazing life.

Jerre was a great lady, who I had the privilege to know through Women's Welcome Club. I will always treasure her kindness and charm, when she opened her beautiful home to our New Members brunches over the years. I will miss her sweet and open smile and wonderful stories. R.I.P. Jerre

Our family would like to send our condolences. I had the pleasure of visiting with Jerre on a few trips she made to Los Angeles. I was always struck by how much she loved her family! She was also a welcoming and lovely host when I stayed with the Brammeiers in Phoenix. I know the many memories Mark shared with his mom will provide comfort during this difficult time. The Mihalys
