Jerry Dwight McGrady Obituary
Jerry was born January 29, 1940, in Ashe County, NC; son of the late Dwight and Grace Lovett McGrady. He graduated from Wake Forest University receiving both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After a long career in the pharmaceutical industry, the highlights of his retirement were spending time with beloved family, foreign travel with his wife, beach vacations, reading and collecting books, and listening to music. He was an active member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church, and at one time served as a Deacon. He was a longtime supporter of the Demon Deacons and devoted fan of ACC basketball and football.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McGrady was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth McGrady. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Yvonne Schindler; daughter, Catherine McGrady (Charles E. Matthews) of Rockville, MD; step-sons, Mark DeYoung (Jackie), Jeff DeYoung (Merideth); grandchildren, Carter Matthews, Lillian Matthews, Casey DeYoung, Taylor DeYoung, Veronica Hirschbuhl; brother, Roger McGrady (Katherine), and sister, Carolyn McDowell both of Wilkesboro; along with nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be in Jerry's memory to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27406.
Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is assisting the McGrady family with arrangements.

To the McGrady Family,
I am so sad to learn of the loss of Mr. McGrady. I really enjoyed the time Mr. and Mrs. McGrady spent with us at the Beaufort Inn and was hoping to see them again. My prayers are with you all.

To The McGrady Family:
I am sad to learn of the loss of Jerry McGrady. Although Jerry and me did not know each other extremely well, I feel I know him well enough to say he was a fine example of professionalism, poise, and an all-around great person to know. I too am a pharmaceutical sales rep and I enjoyed having brief conversations with Jerry when we would see each other in passing. BUT for the love of God, I am SHOCKED beyond belief to see that Jerry was the age that he was!!! I thought he was much younger than that. He looked amazing!!! Any way, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.
