Benedict E. Sandrick Whiting Benedict E. Sandrick, age 75, of Whiting, IN passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the St. Margaret Mercy Health Care Center, Hammond. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene H. (Urban) Sandrick who passed away November 20, 1999; loving father of Mark (Marguerite) Sandrick of Dyer, Bill (Leanne) Sandrick of Hammond; devoted grandpa of Tom, Carolyn and Matthew; cherished brother of Frank (late Gert) Sandrick of Whiting, Edward (late Margaret) Sandrick of Munster, Anthony (Joyce) Sandrick of Highland; dear brother-in-law of Agatha (late Carl) Urban and Julia (late Louis) Urban; special friend, Martha Shimala of Whiting; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Sandrick and John Sandrick. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 6 - 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St. Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S. officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City. Visitation at the funeral home Sunday 2 to 7 p.m. Members of the Parish, together with the St. John Adult Choir will offer prayers at the funeral home Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Ben Sandrick was born on March 12, 1930 in Whiting, IN to Francis and Rozalia Sandrick and was a life long resident; a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute (Catholic Central, Class of 1945); a member of St. John's Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting; The St. John Adult Choir, the First Catholic Slovak Union Branch #762. He was a volunteer for the "Red Coats" at St. Margaret Hospital, an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict; a life member of the American Legion Whiting Post #80 (Memorial Service Sunday, 6 p.m.) and a retiree of Commonwealth Edison (State Line) with a service of 23 years. Ben was a man of warmth and kindness. He brought a smile to all he touched. He leaves us with a lifetime of cherished memories and an example of how to live a full and fulfilling life.A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ben was a man who lived his strong faith. We are truly grateful for the time we spent with Ben and celebrate the impact he had on all who knew and loved him. 219-659-4400.
