I remember the night Stephanie called to tell us Jerry had proposed. We, of course, had no idea our journey together would be so short.
I'm so grateful for the time we did have. Jerry and I spent a lot of time together going back and forth to Baylor. I learned something new about him every trip. And since his passing I've learned more from the words of his friends and am so grateful for their memories of him.
He was intelligent, curious and funny. And boy, did he know stuff!
His courage was inspiring. I never heard him complain or whine even during those times he was so sick that I hurt remembering them. We couldn't have asked for a better son-in-law. I wish we could have had him longer.
I think he showed a few of us that we had a greater capacity for love and compassion than we knew.
I love you, boy, and will forever.
This is so inadequate.
But those of you who truly knew him understand
There really just are no words

Stephanie, there are no words to ease your pain, I know. Please know I love you and will keep you and your family in my prayers. Jerry was one of the good guys and I really liked him. I know Gracie Lou is missing him too. God be with you!

Jerry was the blacksmith on the anvil of life and a class act all the way. A true friend and brother. The kind of guy they don't make anymore. He was loved and respected by all. Dizzied by so many great memories from our trip to Los Angeles in 1994 or when Jerry appeared as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. Ha! And all the hang time from back in the day. I love you Jerry! The world was a better place because you were in it. Enormous condolences to Stephanie, Elora, family and friends.

Stephanie, my heart breaks for you, Elora and the rest of Jerry's family. I wish there were words to articulate the emotion and compassion that those of us that know you wish to convey. There are not.
Kasi and I send our condolences and we both are so very sorry for your loss.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He lift His countenance upon you.
May He give you peace.
Amen and Amen

I've known Jerry almost my entire life, and his loss will be deeply felt by our circle of friends. He was kind, funny, protective, and a natural leader. My heart goes out to Stephanie, Elora, and all of his family.

Jerry and met briefly in 1994 before finishing high school a year later he opened his home to me despite only a brief introduction. We were roommates for three maybe four years along with others. Jerry treated me as brother and friend from the beginning he was our godfather, we grew a lot together without the grace and stability of my friend Jerry I doubt I would have come to where I am today. His generosity was a platform for my future success and many others as well. During and after collage we stayed in contact up until 2006, before then we camped, sang drank and passed the time together as brothers do. I was delighted recently when I received a friend request from Jerry and looked forward to seeing him again. I had no idea he was sick or struggling (I wish I could have been there for him had I known I would have moved heaven and earth to do so). We were comrades he was a friend, mentor and a deeply generous person and will always be a brother to me. I will miss a word without him.
