Jerry Steele Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 16, 2024.
Jerry Potter Steele, born on May 16, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at the age of 95 on July 29, 2024, in Erie, Colorado. A man of remarkable vigor and a zest for life, Jerry was a respected figure in construction and real estate development. His career was marked by a profound commitment to building not just structures but also a strong family around him.

Jerry grew up during the difficult era of the Great Depression which forged in him a resilience and resourcefulness that became the hallmark of his life's work in the construction and real estate sectors. This spirit carried through his personal life where he built and raced his own sailboats, constructed his own helicopter and airplane, and enjoyed activities like skiing and houseboating on Lake Powell with his family. His dedication to his work was only matched by his commitment to his family, whom he nurtured with love and strength.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure, survived by his children, Cheryl (Steve), Steve, Kim (Randall), his companion Barbara, his sister Ruth, along with seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, his brothers James and Robert, and his parents, James and Ethel.

Details of the memorial services are yet to be determined. Jerry's life was a testament to the power of hard work paired with a fun-loving spirit, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
