Jesse Nelson Alexander, Jr, was born in Somerset (Pulaski) Kentucky in 1928 to Jesse Wilson Alexander (1894-1984) and Reella Odessa (Lackey) Alexander (1901-1977). Jesse graduated from Central High School, 1945; University of Louisville with BS in Mathematics, 1950; The Engineer Officer Candidate School in Fort Belvoir, VA, 1952; George Williams College in Chicago - MS in Group Work Administration, 1958; New York University in NY City, Intergroup Relations Studies, 1960-1961.

Jesse served 22 years in Local and national YMCAs as paid staff and 46 years as a supporter and volunteer and served 6 years as paid staff in the United Church of Christ, national headquarters.

Jesse also served as president of Treyton Oak Towers Resident Council and vice president of the Treyton Oak Towers Foundation.

Jesse was preceded in death by wife Maude A. (White) Alexander (1929 - 2013) and son James Nelson Alexander (1966-2024) and is survived by children Jesse N. Alexander III, Virginia Alexander, Rhonda Glenn-Alexander, and grandchildren James Nelson Alexander, Jr. and Jessica Nia Alexander.

Graveside service was at Saturday, August 16, 2025, 11:00 am at Cave Hill Cemetery, and the Celebration of Life gathering was at 2:00 pm at Treyton Oak Towers.

In lieu of flowers, special onetime contributions in Jesse's honor to the Chestnut Street YMCA annual Spirit Campaign, the Treyton Oak Towers Employee Christmas Fund, and the Treyton Oak Towers Employee Scholarship Fund should be considered.
