We knew the family when Jesse was a child. The Cooley family lived on E street and we lived right behind them on D Street in the 1930's. We called Jesse "brother" and Dorothy "sister". They were kind and sweet and we remember them well.

To The Entire Cooley Family on behalf of Ali & Itaska Dheini & Family (inclusive of The Williams Family). Although we were not present in body; our mind, spirit and most sincere sympathies were right there with you every step of the way. We grieved together, remembered together and relished in a life lived well, together. Although my Husband and Children never had the pleasure of meeting him personally; They knew him well through the sharing of the love, kindness and true diligence he has always shown my family. For as long as I can remember he has always been there. Some may remember him most as an icon in the African American Community. Maybe, a power broker in the City of Fresno. Musician, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Husband or Friend. I am sure he will be remembered and for what he was too many. As for my family and I we will continue to share my memories of him as a wonderful Grandfather to my Cousins Jesse V, Hayward (Kimmeko) & Jesse IV. An outstanding family man and a dedicated proven friend and confidant to myself and the entire Williams Family.
He Will Be Deeply Missed, But Always Remembered with Admiration and Respect.

To Mrs. Cooley and family please accept our deepest expression of sorrow and sympathy over the death of your husband, father, brother and our friend Brother Jesse Cooley. We need you to know that we are with you in this sad hour. At the same time we also rejoice with you knowing that his suffering is over and because we have the sure knowledge and promise for those who love God. That promise is from the day of our baptism through the vicissitudes of life until the day of our death when we see God's face that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ. And though we now see only the shell of the man the best part of him his soul has taken wings and flown away. With All Our Love Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Smiley and family

Our families have had a long, wonderful history, dating back to when my Dad worked for Mr. Cooley Sr. at the Bakersfield location. After "Jr." took the reins of the business, at the Bakersfield location, he promoted my Dad from the Representative to the Office Manager, and hired my Mom as the beautician! My brothers were drivers and pickup technicians. Being the only daughter in the family, I was introduced to the "typewriter", thus it becoming my first job. The Hicks Family of Bakersfield and Clovis, CA would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Cooley Family. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
