SHEFF WINSTON-SALEM Jessie Eugene McKever Sheff July 21, 1935 - Nov 13, 2011 In love and infinite wisdom God called Jessie Eugene McKever Sheff and gave him his wings. He departed this life Sunday, November 13th at his home at the age of 76. Jessie was born July 21, 1935 in Rural Hall, NC to Bascom and Ethel Sheff who both preceded him in death along with brothers, Bascom Jr. and Elijah Sheff; sisters, Mamie Heath and Margaret Mitchell; and sisters-in-law, Martha Sheff and Helen Hopper. McKever served as a cook in the United States Army, attended Russell Business College, and retired from R.J. Reynolds after 28 years in 1989. He continued to work for Langston Security Services until his health began to fail. He was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church and faithful member of James H. Young Masonic Lodge # 670, PHA. McKever is survived by his wife of 47 years Barbara H. Sheff; one son, Maurice (Carolyn) Settle; one daughter, Donna J. Settle; one granddaughter, LaTonya "Stinky" Nicholson; two brothers, Richard Sheff and Mose (Bertha) Sheff; four brothers-in-law, Samuel Hopper Jr., Ronald (Diane) Hopper, Ernest (Portia) Hopper, and Vincent (Brenda) Hopper; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Price and Edna (Fletcher) Harris; a host of nieces, nephews and friends including a loyal family friend, Loletta Williams; a devoted nephew, Samuel Sheff and devoted niece, Alaysjah "Pookie" Hopper. Family visitations will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, Nov. 17, 2011 at Hooper Funeral Home and 11:00 A.M. Friday morning, Nov. 18, 2011 at St. James United Methodist Church, Rural Hall, NC with funeral services following at 11:30 A.M. Interment will be in Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC. Online Condolences may be received at www.hooperfuneralhome.net.

To Maurice and Mrs. Sheff, Whatever valley you're in..GOD is There with you..I worked with Mr. Sheff both at Reynolds and with Lankford Security..also he is a Masonic Brother..Very Nice Man..So Sorry for your loss.
