MANTACHIE – Lavada Jewel Dickinson Tabler, 96, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at Countrywood Plantation. She was born October 26, 1918, to Lee and Eva Gilmore Lindsey. She retired from Mantachie Manufacturing after 36 years of service. She was a member of Mantachie Church of Christ and attended Shiloh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and reading.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, December 24, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Billy Adams and Kenneth Burleson officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, John Lee Dickinson (Joyce) of Mantachie; two daughters, Eva Nell Dickinson Burleson (Kenneth) of Pensacola, Fla., and Carolyn Tangery of Olive Branch; five stepchildren, Nelda Jackson of Baldwyn, Jimmy Tabler (Geneva) of Mantachie, Mary Ellen Keltner of Tupelo, Billy Tabler (Shirley) of Booneville and Paulette Nichols (Charles) of New Site; 10 grandchildren, Kenny Burleson, Terry Barnes (Maryellen), Chris Dickinson (Teresa), Angie Devaughn (Geoffrey), Brian Dickinson (Julie), Jason Dickinson (Amanda), Denesha Long (John), Rosanne Wilson (Jonathan), Amy Somers (Cade), and Amanda Montgomery (Guyton); 18 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Vardaman Fisher Dickinson and John Forbes Tabler; her parents; and her siblings, Buddy Lindsey, Kenneth Lindsey, Arthur Lindsey, Vivian Sherrill, Inez Lee and Charles Lindsey.
Pallbearers will be Chris Dickinson, Jason Dickinson, Brian Dickinson, Geoffrey Devaughn, Kenny Burleson and Terry Barnes.
Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.
