Jill Stoller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 2 to Dec. 10, 2020.
Dr. Jill Stoller

Dr. Jill Stoller passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 29, 2020. She contracted COVID earlier this year and had suffered for months from post-viral psychological complications. Jill was 59 years old. She is survived by her mother, Jane; her brother, Richard; her husband of 37 years, Tim; her daughter Jenna and son-in-law Sean; her son, Travis; and her grandson, Bryce.

Jill was born in New York, NY to parents Paul and Jane. She graduated from John Jay High School in Cross River, NY in 1978. She attended Cornell University, where she met Tim and graduated with honors in 1982. They were married in 1983 in Brewster, NY. Jill went on to receive her MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY in 1986 and became a board-certified pediatrician in 1989. Dr. Stoller joined Chestnut Ridge Pediatrics in Woodcliff Lake, NJ in 1996 and became a partner in 2001. She was the first President and CEO of BCD Health Partners established in 2011. Dr. Stoller served as Chairperson of the Section on Administration and Practice Management for the American Academy of Pediatrics. She devoted her life to her work, her patients and her family. She was incredibly intelligent, generous, and cared deeply for those around her. Jill was a breast cancer survivor and dedicated time to those affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. In recent years, she discovered a true love for dog training and spent many weekends in competition with Tia, her rescue dog.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jill's memory can be made to the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund (www.njprf.org) or the Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society (www.rcaps.org). A small memorial service will be held next year when safety allows.

I never met Jill but was struck by her obituary in the New York Times. I feel like we would have gotten along so well: she had similar politics and passions. Also, I am a Physician Assistant like her daughter so I felt a special bond. My heart goes out to her family, and I’m so sorry she suffered so much.

I was so sad to learn of Dr Stoller’s passing but was glad to see the article in the times today. I knew Jill through the District Meetings of the AAP and found her to be warm, committed to her profession, patients, families and her colleagues. This past year has been trying for all of us but even more so for the surviving members of families who lost a true hero. While I am sad today, I am grateful to count Jill among my friends and to admire her devotion and her work. May she now be at peace and may her memory be a blessing.

Jill is my cousin, and we were born less than one year apart, so I have known her all my life. I will always remember her as sweet, smiling, intelligent and caring. My heart goes out to her and her family, and especially her new grandson.

This is so awful and sad. Jill was really smart, funny, energetic, and loyal. It’s a sad time for so many of us who knew her at Cornell. Dr. Jay Baldwin

Dr. Stoller was always there for us as a Dr. and a friend. She always told my daughter Amanda that she could text her any time with questions or just to talk. My son and daughter both have SMA and have undergone surgeries and have had special circumstances and Dr. Stoller was always there. She came to our home to help care for my daughter after surgery and helped to keep us all calm and positive. So sad to hear of her passing.

Dr. Stroller was an amazing pediatrician and provided care for my daughters. She was so genuine and caring and knowledgeable. As a mom and nurse I felt so very appreciated to have her in our lives. I will never forget her. I am very sorry for your loss.

We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Stoller. She had made such a difference in our girls lives.
Her kindness, sincere caring, and concern made everything better and always provided such great encouragement and comfort up until the girls last visit on November 18. Our three girls, 20, 17, and 11, felt such a special bond with Dr. Stoller. We will forever be grateful for all the guidance, reassurance and kindness she had shown the girls and my family. Thank you so very much for taking care of us and being so skilled at what you did. You will forever be missed but never forgotten. What a great loss to the world. Our deepest sympathy to the family of the Dr. Stoller.
Love always,
The Vassallo Family

I met Jill on the bus she organized for 50 women to go to DC for the 2016 women’s March. I got to know her from that epic day and then we connected through social media, where she was a champion of democracy. I will never forget her. I’m so deeply sorry.

I have such fond memories of Jill. We went to Ghana together the first year of our medical mission. She was so loving and caring with the kids and nurtured the parents as well. She gave them hope and a brighter future. I will always treasure that trip together and I am devastated for your loss.
