Jillian Porter Sanders died August 27, 2016 at her home in Rankin County. Her life will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Cathedral on Wednesday, August 31st, beginning with visitation at 10:00 in the Parish Hall and service to begin at 11:00 A.M . in the Nave. She was born December 10, 1979, to Mary Todd Sanders and Robert David Sanders. She attended St. Andrew 's Episcopal School through ninth grade and finished her secondary education as a boarding student at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, following in the footsteps of her father, who had graduated there several decades earlier. She was a communicant of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral. Jillian entered Santa Clara, but, finding California not to her liking, returned to the South and eventually completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Mississippi. Growing up, Jillian excelled as a competitive swimmer for the River Hills Club swim team and as an equestrian, garnering ribbons and medals in hunter-jumper competitions all over the South.

Jillian was predeceased by her grandparents, Ruth and Robert Porter and Katie and Robert Sanders; and by her brother, Robert, whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, Jillian is survived by her daughter, Kimber Catherine Todd Sanders; and her older sister, Cathy Sanders, who was her confidante and fellow member of the Secret Sisters Club. She leaves behind many friends who were attracted to her brightness and her seemingly limitless potential, never fully realized. She loved the out-of-doors and, from early childhood, wished that she could fly with the birds. Released at last, now she can.
