Jimmy Lakey, age 73, of Hot Springs, died Monday, August 8, 2011. He was born on September 7, 1937 in Carmen, Oklahoma, the son of William Icel Lakey and Elba E. Gannon Lakey. On July 27, 1957, he was married to Pauline M. Horne. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Willa Mae Lakey. Jimmy graduated Carmen High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma University. He was in the insurance business for 30 years and he started Lakey Insurance in 1996 and retired in 2007. He was Methodist in faith and was active in church choirs. Jimmy was a charter member of the Garland County Tea Party and was also a member of the Dixie Shooters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Polly M. Lakey of Hot Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Cara Lakey of Hot Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Penny L. and Terry M. Evers of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Cali Lakey Suit and Westan Lakey; two great-grandchildren, Layne Suit and Rilynn Willa Suit; his brother, Larry Lakey of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Brother Teddy Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Sunshine under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM Thursday until service time. Pallbearers will be Fred Padilla, Les Allen, Terry Bateman, Kevin Tuohy, John Lovell, and Bill Paschall. Honorary pallbearers will be Darel Cornwell, Joe White, Donovan Ball, Mike Blackwood, the members of Garland County Tea Party, the friends who helped build ramp, Dierkson Memorial Hospice, Jennifer, Robert Natisha, Martha, Belinda, Nicole, Brad, Kimberly, and Dr. Scott Erwin. Memorials may be made by going to the polls and voting. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
