A Christian Burial for Joan Franks Gaspard will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Refuge Baptist Church in Echo with Rev. Alton Hawk and Rev. Arnold Northsworthy officiating. Interment will follow in Belledeau Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward. Joan Franks Gaspard, a child given by the Lord to Druette and Carrie Franks on May 14, 1949 in Belledeau, departed to join her heavenly Father on April 27, 2012. She is preceded in death by her father, Druette "Doodle" Franks, and survived by her husband of 45 years, Eddie S. Gaspard; three children, Tami Gaspard of Belledeau, Tim Gaspard of Marksville, Ashli Dunlap of Effie; mother, Carrie B. Franks of Belledeau; close family friend, Clayton Roy; five grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, and Laken Lachney, Riley and Reece Gaspard; one great grandson, Bryce Cole Dixon, whom she loved and cherished most in the world until her time of passing; three brothers, Bruce Franks of Hessmer, Kenneth Franks of Echo, Druette Franks of Belledeau; three sisters, Patsy Graves of Boyce, Shirley Archer of Belledeau, and Rowena Crumpler of Prairieville; and multiple nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be: Carl Dixon, Devin Rogers, Dean Coco, Clayton Roy, Druette Franks, and Kenneth Franks. Honorary pallbearer will be Riley Gaspard. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Refuge Baptist Church, Echo.
