I enjoyed working with Joan at the county Research Drive office. She hired me when I was beginning my career with the county. She was a good supervisor. I remember her love of shopping at Macys and Nordstroms. She also loved Frank Sinatra music. She had a beautiful smile and enjoyed life. She was a caring and thoughtful person. I went to visit her in the hospital before she passed away and she spoke very kind and encouraging words to me. I am still working for the county over 30 years now. I can't believe how fast time is going by....it'd been 13 yrs since she passed away. It doesn't seem like that much time has gone by. I miss her.

Thinking of Joan today and finding it hard to believe that it has been 10 years since she took her leave. She had the best laugh and she is missed.

I was thinking of Joan this morning. Hard to believe it has been 4 years. I know she is missed by those who loved and knew her.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about my mom. I reach for the phone and remember I can't call her anymore. I do talk to her, I hope can hear me from up there.

Michele, So sorry to just have heard of your loss. Joan hired me in 1985 with DHA and instantly made me feel at home in her unit. She was my temporary boss till my next boss arrived from training. I always wished that she had stayed my boss longer because her kindness was second to none. I will truly miss her.

Michele,
I was being nostalgic at work today and talking about Joan and the little "Bobcat" she drove, I used to tease her because she would not drive on the freeway she would stay on the surface roads. Then a co-worker told me she heard that Joan had just recently passed away, I was so sad to hear about the loss of your sweet mother. She had a special kindness and spirit and it was a pleasure knowing her. I saw her some time ago at the grocery store and she was so excited to tell me about her wonderful new grandson, Michael. What a blessing he was to her and what a blessing she was to all her "kids" at DHA. She was a special person and a good supervisor. I will always remember her with many fond memories. Take care.

Michelle & Mike: I never met the two of you, but I know how special you were to your mom. I cannot remember the last time she was able to go to Carmel with us. We had so much fun. No matter how she felt, her clothes, hair, make-up & of course, jewels were perfect. So much time has past- too quickly- since I have seen her. I am so sorry for your loss.

Michelle,
So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I went to St. Peter's in San Francisco with you mother and we were good buddies in school. We started our relationship earlier than that. As I told you on the phone, our mothers were in the same room at San Francisco Hospital when we were born. Joan and I were born on the same day and she got the first name Joan and I got Joan for my middle name. When we connected again later at school we discovered our past and we started telling everyone at school that we were twins or almost twins. We had a great relationship at school but lost track of each other later. We played phone tag but for some reason we never got connected again. I was so saddened to hear of her passing. I keep you and your family in my prayers, Michelle.

Michelle it has been hard for me to find the words to say to you. I understand what you are going thru right now but at some point i hope my words will comfort you. your mom was the best we work together at 28th street and quickly became friends it helped because she knew my mother. she mentored me and believed in me before i did. then we worked together at research drive. i love your mom her laugh, our talks and all the support she gave me. The thing that i will remember the most is when i lost my mom 7 years ago...(the hardest thing i have ever had to endure)... but your mom would call me a couple times a year just to see how things were going and always offering herself to me when i would need comfort....she would just let me cry to her and tell me she loved me....I will miss your mom and will always honor her with the beautiful memories, thoughts and prayers

Dear Michelle,
Your Mom was truly someone very special in my life. I cannot believe the time has slipped away from me and it has been so long since she and I shared a cup of tea, a shopping trip or a lunch at Nordy's. I will call you soon or better yet, may I have your e-mail address?
Much love to you and Mikey,
Carmen

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. She had wonderful taste in music, and it was truly enjoyable to be in her company. I know your memories will provide you with happiness, and as the days and weeks pass, and you return to the routine of life, may "the God of all comfort" continue to support and strengthen you through family and friends (2 Corinthians 1:3,4).
