Joann Tkacz Sobol Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 28, 2025.
Joann Tkacz Sobol, a beacon of selflessness and kindness, whose faith-filled life inspired all who knew her, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2025, in North Fayette Township. Born on June 16, 1954, to the late John and Maria Tkacz, Joann's journey was one marked by unwavering dedication to her family, her profession, and her passions. Joann was a "Rox Girl" and a proud graduate of Sto Rox High School and continued her education at the Community College of Allegheny County School of Nursing. Her calling as a registered nurse allowed her to touch countless lives. She worked most of her Nursing career as an ICU nurse and ended it serving the youngest hearts as a school nurse within Pittsburgh Public Schools. Joann's career was more than a job; it was a manifestation of her profound commitment to caring for others. She was a role model and very proud of her three daughter's following in her footsteps. Family was the cornerstone of Joann's world. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Jennifer Sobol Herrmann and husband Robert, Jessica Sobol, and Deidre Sobol, who will forever cherish their mother's legacy of love. Her light will continue to shine through her grandsons, Blake Bennett, Brayden Bennett, and Joseph Herrmann. Joann's sisters, Leona and Jack Hannon, and Janet and Ronnie Watton, and Julie and David Surenda will miss her dearly, as will her devoted boyfriend, Dave Vandevort, and numerous family members whose lives she enriched. Joann's zest for life was evident in her wide array of interests. From digging in the dirt in her yard under the sunshine to floating on her raft in her swimming pool, she embraced every moment with joy. Joann loved gambling, spending time with her friends going to pirate games and concerts. Her energy was infectious, and she loved God and her church, often extending a helping hand and a smile. Joann often said "It is what it is", she embodied this and took life as it came. Joann always placed the needs of others before her own. Her selflessness knew no bounds, and she became a role model for all who aspired to make a difference in the world. Joann's kind spirit will be remembered as a guiding light. She was a living testament to the power of faith and the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. Her laughter, her generous heart, and her unwavering positivity will remain in the hearts of those she touched. Joann Tkacz Sobol lived a life that exemplified the beauty of giving without expectation, loving without limits, and nurturing the bonds of family and friendship. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we are reminded that her journey was one of purpose and passion. Joann's story is one of triumph, a life lived to the fullest, leaving behind a trail of memories that will continue to inspire and motivate. Her essence will forever be a testament to the idea that the love we give in life is the love that endures beyond it. Today, we celebrate Joann Tkacz Sobol, a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to uplift and encourage us to lead lives of compassion and grace. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will live on. Joann's life was a melody of kindness and caring, and her song will resonate for generations to come.

Jen, Jess and Deidre,
I never met a woman more full of life than your mom and I was shocked to hear of her passing. She was always so proud of all that you girls have accomplished. Whenever I would run into her we would catch up and reminisce about our Sheraden days. My heart breaks for all of you as you navigate this difficult time. I pray that your memories of your beautiful mom bring you some comfort. She was definitely one of a kind, and we were all blessed to have known her.

My deepest sympathy to you all. May your memories help sustain you during this time of grief and sorrow. I have many great memories of Joann when I met her and I helped her with care plans while she was in nursing school and we became friends. I enjoyed going to your house hanging out. I'm so sad we didn't stay in closer touch other than Facebook and running into you girls at the hospital. Such a great memorial to your mom.
