Joanne M. Borgel, 76, entered into rest Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Normandie Ridge.
Viewings will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory 2114 West Market St., and 9-10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 309 S. George St. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church with Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
Miss Borgel was born September 11, 1941 in York, a daughter of the late Henry E. "Spike" and Mary Agnes (Klunk) Borgel. She was a 1960 graduate of York Catholic Senior High School and retired in 2000 from York County 911 Center as Fire/ Police/ Ambulance Coordinator. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Altar Rosary Society, Golden Nuggets, Alert Fire Company in Manchester Township, Union Fire Company in York, York County Heritage Trust, John Timon Reily Historical Society, Strand Capital Performing Arts Center, York County Firefighters Assn., South Central PA Genealogical Society, York Volunteer Firefighters Relief Assn., and the Adams County Historical Society.
Joanne is survived by a brother, Joseph F. Borgel and his wife, Margaret; ten nieces and nephews, Melinda and Darrell Hart, Nancy and Alfred Bourgeois, David and Lee Borgel, Thomas and Kelli Borgel, Peter and Donna Borgel, Ann and Fred Reed, Susan Borgel and her boyfriend, Orlando Orochena, Jr., Michael and Melissa Borgel, Marianne and Chris Hostetter; and 16 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry E. "Sonny" Borgel, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Marion Borgel; and a niece, Diana Hart.
