JoAnne Curley Obituary
Binghamton - JoAnne Marie (Kovac) Curley, 79, of Binghamton died peacefully on February 1, 2019 surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. JoAnne was predeceased by her mother, Loretta Kovac, her father Anthony Kovac, and her brother, William Kovac. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Curley, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage and three children, Coleen (Jonathan) Franzel of Gloucester, MA, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Arouth of Salem, MA and Brian (Jeanne) Curley of Franklin, MA. Also surviving JoAnne are her four beloved grandchildren, Marin Franzel, Hunter and Griffin Arouth and Devin Curley, her sister-in-law, Gail Kovac and several nieces and nephews. Born in Johnson City, JoAnne graduated from Johnson City High School. On May 12, 1962 she married Jim who was the love of her life. From that day on, they worked together to create a family and a home filled with warm memories and where friends were always welcome. JoAnne worked for Gannett Newspapers for many years and was an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church serving as the parish secretary for over two decades. Upon her retirement, she and Jim enjoyed traveling including frequent visits to their family in Massachusetts. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Saturday, February 9th at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday, February 8th from 3 to 6 p.m. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Good Shepherd Village staff for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Good Shepherd Communities Foundation Living Care Fund, 32 Village Drive Endwell, NY 13760. Joanne and her family deeply appreciate the warm support they received from friends and acquaintances during her illness. Please consider honoring JoAnne's memory by reaching out to someone in need. The smallest gesture can touch a person's heart in the grandest of ways.

Dear Curley family, please accept my deepest condolences upon Mrs. Curley's passing. I admired her greatly, knew her as a teacher of her children and as her friend, loved seeing her shopping . She was an example for us all as a wife, mother, grandmother! How proud she was of her husband and family and what a beautiful zest for life she had. May God Bless her now in Paradise.
